hi guys,
i know that to set the throttle position sensor to .54 volts but i heard also you can set it up too .65 volts!
is there any different setting on the tps from 85- up to 96 models as far as the tps setting please?
would it be any better performance gain setting the throttle to .65 volts rather than the standard setting of .54 volts?
or would it make things worse please?
any ideas/tips/help on this matter would be great!
cheers

The higher voltage you set your TPS, usually the higher the idle. I found from running scans that my desired idle in the chip was lower than the actual idle and the IAC was trying to compensate. My TPS was set around .59v and by lowering it to the stock .54v, my idle is right on. The 90-96 have non-adjustable TPS's from what I remember.

If you have a stock '91 TPS it is not adjustable. To check this remove one screw and see if the TPS has a hole or a slot; only ones with the slot are adjustable.
Further I believe that your ECM will read the min TPS value at idle and set the min voltage as well as read the max value at WOT to set the WOT voltage.
The reason for setting the higher value on '85-'89 L98s is explained on my site.
hi guys,
thanks for your replys!
i brought a after market throttle position sensor so i can adjust mine!

it's useless. the 90 91 tps management it's much more smart than the 85-98.
Yes, you can modify the initial setting with the slotted one you bought... say to .070....but when you start the car your tps % value will be 0% (as it should be). When you turn the key it read your actual value (.054 or .055 or.0.60.0.70.. or .80..) and it know that this value it's the 0%TPS value.
On 85-89 the tps is volts referenced to a fixed value. Example if you adjust it to 0.67 the ECM know you are something more than .054 so your TPS can be more than 0% .
The only way to simulate the 85-89 (it's stupid to for me..) is to start the car and open the hood and adjust the TPS. (example from .050 to .65).
Once you stop the car and then you RE-start it, the value will continue to stay the modified one (.65 on our example) but the tps value will reset to 0%.

Its pointless. The changes made by adjusting the TPS should be made in the ECM tune (although adjusting the TPS will be totally ineffective on your 91 anyway). As most of the others here have said, the ECM will see the signal from the TPS and use the lowest voltage it sees as the voltage for "Closed Throttle". If it sees a new lower voltage reading, this new lower reading becomes the new Closed Throttle value.
