I followed the earlier thread about zinc additives not being in oil anymore (ZDP? ZDDP? something like that...) until it totally lost me... Someone asked a question that never got answered, and I wanna know... I'm using Mobil 1 5W-30 in my 94 LT1... should I put something like STP in too? Or the GM EOS stuff (what does EOS stand for? Engine Oil Stuff?)? My Vette's not a DD, just a toy, only has 40K miles, but I don't want any excessive engine wear 'cause I plan to keep this baby a long time..
Help!? Thanks...
Update:
Just saw a great thread on the General Forum from GreggPenn about this same topic... except he's got some great info.

I run Mobil One also, my 92 now has 131,000 miles on it, runs like a top. I never added anything to the oil, just keep it clean. No leaks, no engine problems. Swampy
If you and others are really worried about the new oil standard and future oil standards, send samples to http://www.blackstone-labs.com/ they will tell you how the engine is doing and you will not have to guess. You can extend the oil drain witch saves you money and pays for the oil sample cost. I run Redline in mine, it has plently of ZDDP, but I mostly track the car. Does everyone need to run Redline, no.

You don't need any additives in your car. The Mobil 1 is all you need. It is the older 1960's early 70's flat tappet engined cars that need the zinc. I use Mobil 1 in my newer car and Shell Rotella 15W 40 in my 1960's Vettes.
