Just befor i bought my 94 the guy had new rotors, calipers, and pads installed. The break dust just kills me though. Can I or has anyone used ceramic pads on the factor rotors or will they require replacement rotors specifically designed for ceramic pads?

i don't think rotors are designed for any particular type of pads. if they were, the rotors would have to be marked with some sort of message indicating such - i have never seen anything like that before. i have ceramic pads on a set of aftermarket rotors on my 85 and have factory (ACDelco) replacement ceramic pads for my z06. hope this helps...
That makes sense, I forgot about the rotor wear in and of itself. I was told the the ceramic breakes are so hard that they can physically cut the rotor. I suppose if the rotor is in good shape there won't be much chance of that right?
Ceramic pads will not hurt the rotor and using them should all but eliminate brake dust. Some ceramic pads are hard enough that you may have some squeal in them when cold but overall, ceramic pads work very well on the street. I don't believe they are intended for extreme braking like you see for HPDE or track day use.
Depending on the number of miles since that last brake job, I would have the rotor surfaces turned so that any ridges or wear can be removed and a smooth surface is ready for the new pads.
The Tire Rack carries Hawk Ceramic pads at reasonable prices. The Raybestos QuietStop is another good pad and they are available at NAPA.
the guy had done the breaks in 6-06 and i purchased in 9-06 according to paperwork he had maybe 600mi i have since added <1000 mi rotors are smooth as paper and pads have tons of meat...ceramic here I come thanks for the input!

There is some truth to that.
I have a report from NAPA on there Ceramix brake pads and it does state that they will put more wear on a rotor than a standard pad.
Note that ceramic pads are not dustless, there is no such thing, but the dust produced is much finer and more hard to notice.
I have tested the NAPA Ceramix pads and they work great, but only for about 40,000 miles or so, I went almost 67,000 on mine which was good for the test.
I currently have the Hawk HPS on the car, but I have the Hawk Ceramic on my '93. No issues so far, but I only have a few hundred miles on the new pads.
I've got the Hawk Ceramic pads on mine. No problems in a couple thousand miles. Much less noticeable dust- and some of that is because it's kind of a grey color, not black.
Please note that I mainly cruise in mine- no frequent hard-braking applications, but they stop on a dime when needed (better than what was on there when I bought the car)
I have Hawks HPS ( on my '77) also love them. In the past I have done some HPDEs and still have at of pad left.
They are dusty tho but everything has a cost attached to it.
