Driveshaft Yoke Damper, final answer
Lots of threads on this. No final updates, and the threads are closed.
Mine wobbled forward. Can I just hit the damper off and use the driveshaft + yoke with out it?

I wouldn't be afraid to try running w/o it if mine were to do what yours has. I can't believe that any dire circumstances would result from it since many or most RWD vehicles don't use one.
