Default ASR removal

Can you remove the ASR? What would be involved? Did search, as I am sure this has come up before, but couldn't find anything.

why? that's my big question.

It's integrated into the ABS computer and are connected into the CCM. Removal = codes.

If this car is driven on the street, at all, I would leave the ASR/ABS as they are. The safety net they provide are well worth it.

The man has a point: next time search. This isn't exactly a new topic. But here is the answer anyway....

I removed it from my 96. You can unplug the motor and take the bulb out of the information cluster. The ABS will still work. On my car, I removed the ASR motor, ASR throttle cable and cruise cable, and got a throttle cable for a 95 LT1 Camaro with no traction control. Going this route will also take your cruise control with it. Simply unplugging the motor and pulling the bulb **should** leave cruise working. I didn't try this, but I think it will work.

To pull the bulb out of the driver information center, take off the trim panel and remove the 3 screws that hold it to the dash. Simply twist the bulb and it comes right out.
