1996 Owner HELP!!!!!!
I recently bought a scan tool that shows P-o300. Multi cylinder/random misfire.
I did some research and I seeking alternatives to the 400.00 solution. Currently I have a OBD2 scan tool that can connect to my laptop.
Can I use this same hookup to tune my car using software?
What are some cheap alternatives to tune this car. . . besides mail order?

In my case I had installed a Extreme Timing gear set.
Sounded mean... But just no power... I disconnected the Crank Position sensor... it got rid of the misfire errror so to speak.... The ECM seemed to like it better but still the power just was not there.
I reconnected it scanned it with autotap.... the crank sensor was way off in terms of what the factory manual said it should be...
I pulled it back down to find that I missed the cam tooth by one...
I hope this is not your problem but it sounds like what I had...
Hope this helps

However, the car still needs a tune. It is running and sounding close to stock (except has a nice chop at idle). Bottom is still a little rich and the top a little lean.
Anyone know an alternative to the 400 tune by jet?

Well guess what? The car started running well on its own. Is there some sort of learning process built into the car's computer. . . .or did I simply burn off residue built up on the spark plugs that weren;t firing initially. Now there is only a slight loss of torque at the bottom....but geez weez, when she starts reving, it really pulls nice. I can tell gears will make a big difference. Right now there are stock and I'm assuming 2:59.
