Re: Targa Mufflers to replace eliminators? (Smash)
do you have converters still or are the gutted? flowmasters with no cats sounds great. so do borlas, but they cost an arm and a leg, and dynomax is the exact same thing for about 300 less.
Re: Targa Mufflers to replace eliminators? (Smash)
Targa mufflers with cats have no reasonace probably only slightly quieter than your eliminators. Targas with headers and no cats ( like is on my car now ) sound awesome and have a HELL OF A LOT OF REASONACE. WHAT DID YOU SAY I CAN'T HEAR YOU. :yesnod: :yesnod:
Hey there Smash 'ol buddy. I am thinkin along the same lines as you. Targas. I love my flows and i just dont want to get anything thats queiter and that sounds worse. What are super traps?
Re: Targa Mufflers to replace eliminators? (Smash)
Kale,
I've got targas and a standard cat on the 84. The system produces no resonance. It is not as loud as elimanators but it does have a nice low rumble.
Re: Targa Mufflers to replace eliminators? (Smash)
I have them they look great and the are not that loud but when you get on it they have a unique sound.I do get some resonence but nothing the stereo can't handle.
Re: Targa Mufflers to replace eliminators? (fade_to_black)
Targas = POOP! I had them on my 85 ORIGINALLY when I bought it, the brackets rusted off and they just HUNG down and they sounded like garbage. (quiet in my opinion) When you looked inside them, you could see the fiberglass packing coming apart...very low quality. The Eliminators are the only way to fly...next to those, the setup TPiS sells with the 2.5" Rear Y-Pipe and 2 chamber Flowmaster Mufflers...not a bad price, plus they're ALL black.
P.S. - I literally THREW my targas away! Shoulda told me Brian, I woulda GAVE em' to you.
Re: Targa Mufflers to replace eliminators? (Smash)
I've had the targa's on my 90 for 2 years and have never had any problems wiyh them. they sound great! my neighbor has a 92 with eliminators and he is still upset that his car doesn't sound as good as mine. also i know a guy that after hearing mine, he installed a set on his 85 but they were alot quieter on his. i think the differance was i am running a 2 1/2 inch offroad front y pipe with a high flow cat and he is still running stock y pipe and cat. it makes a big differance in the sound. all in all i haven't heard a better sounding system on an L98 IMHO!
