Default Heated 02 Sensor Wiring Help Needed

Hey guys,

I am in the process of installing a set of heated 02 sensors on my 93. I purchased a set of AC Delco LS1 Camaro sensors (25312197) and pigtail harnesses.

These sensors have square connectors with 4 wires. Wire A is Light Brown, Wire B is Purple, and Wires C and D are both Dark Brown. My question is, what wire is what?

I am assuming that the Light Brown Wire A is Power, the Purple Wire B is Signal and that the other two Dark Brown Wires C and D are both Ground. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Now if both of the Dark Brown Wires are Ground, can they be connected together?

Thanks,

Dave

I do not know the details of wire color and function for the
4-wire AC Delco O2 sensor but I can offer some information about
4-wire sensors in general and NTK sensors in particular.

When there are four wires, one wire is the sensor signal, one is
the isolated sensor signal ground and the remaining two supply
voltage to the internal heater. These are known as ISO-HEGO
sensors - Isolated Heated Exhaust Gas Oxygen.

A four-wire NTK sensor like their #24700 has 1-black, 1-grey and
2-white wires. Black is power, grey is an isolated ground for the
sensor.

The two white wires are for the heater circuit. NTK says there
is no polarity to the heater and so the choice of which white wire
goes to (+) and which goes to (-) does not matter.

NTK lists the #24700 mentioned above as a Universal replacement
for Camaros (V8 & V6) sold with 4-wire sensors from '95-'02.

Therefore, my vote is that on the Delco, the two dark brown wires
are for the (+/-) heater circuit. I pick the Delco purple wire as
the signal or power wire for the sensor and the light brown (beige?)
wire and the isolated ground for the sensor.

Compliments of Cats-Direct-shop-co-uk

My vote is
- Run the existing signal wire to Purple
- Run switched 12+VDC to one Dark Brown wire
- Run a single 12-VDC to the Beige and the other Dark Brown wires.

Okay, sounds good, thanks! So any opinions on putting the 2 grounds together?

I do not know of a reason not to do the following.

What I am indicating here is to connect directly to battery negative
rather than just to a nearby chassis point. From the information
earlier, the Beige wire and one of the Dark Brown wires (your choice)
are the ground conductors.

I am not implying it is necessary/recommended to run a conductor
to the physical battery, itself. Running a conductor to an existing
ground strap/wire will accomplish the connection to ground.

What should be avoided is just running a wire to the nearest metal
object and hoping that there is good conductivity from there to the
negative terminal of the battery.

Dave, find a ground strap near where your working and use one of these on the chassis

I know there is a group of ground wires that bolts to the block on the drivers side above the oil filter. I was figuring I would wire both 02 sensors together, minus the signal wires, and then run one ground and one power wire.

Any idea where I can confirm the correct pinout of the sensor?

I cant help you there, I dont have a schematic for your year.

The area you are looking at adding the grounds will work, but I have found there is already to many ground wires there. Mine has a ground strap from that point to under the battery tray on the frame, that's were I went

Some folks offer thoughts here - Heated O2 Wiring

Another possibility

If that resource is insufficient, there is always this
