From what I understand about 4-valve combustion chambers, it isn't increased maximum flow (at 100% lift) that gives the 4-valve its advantage, but greatly increased flow during the first 75% of lift and the last 75% of valve-closing events.
Greater TOTAL flow volume during valve-open time, rather than just peak flow rates at max lift.
I'm just wondering if the performance will be anywhere near justifying the cost. There are some sick flowing LSx heads out there that maintain good velocity. I guess on a max-effort car it may be worth it, but to us "regular Joes" a good set of 2V heads would be the logical choice...

Well, peak flow numbers, yes...there are come great flowing LS heads...but I would think that if these were done correctly they will have MUCH better mid-lift numbers as well as peak numbers.

You would see them on every Corvette, F-body, Impala ever made. I expect nothing greater out of the LS1 version.
The LS1/2 heads flow extremely well, even a stock 243 casting flows well enough to reach 450 RWHP on the low end scale and still make great power down low.
Those heads are for the big-buck gotta have and wow crowd, their stuff isnt cheap. I can cross the street and walk there in two minutes.
Only good thing about the 4 valver is you dont need a bunch of cam timing to make power, just deep pockets. Interesting stuff. I will say the test cars I see running back and forth with their heads get some stupid rpm, and get it quick.

Brett Bauer has been reworking a set (LT1 32V for those who aren't following closely...) for a customer who has given him basically an open checkbook. The effort to make them actually work is >> the cost of the heads themselves.
