yes, my fathers from the factory developed a leak around 20k, they are just as prone to the rear leak as the LT1's. but they are in fact a beautiful motor, very well put together and has a different feel then the LT1! you will enjoy it!
good luck in your search, let us know what ya get!
well tell them to come fix dads, it smokes and smells when the engine gets hot, embarassing! but it is getting fixed soon, it prompted a cam swap while it will be off! =)

Re: LT4 oil leaks??? (RichS)
Mine was fixed under warranty at 24,000 miles. I think it is starting to leak again at 33,000 miles. I will do this myself as it seems an easy fix. Make sure you use the correct intake manifold gaskets as many people have noted the original gaskets intruded into the airstream approximately .2".
Pretty much all LT1's and LT4's are going to start leaking sooner or later. GM didn't come up with a better sealant until just a couple years ago.
I don't know when the "average" mileage is, but assume it's a bell curve. Some vettes leak early on, some don't leak until the mileage gets real high, but most will happen around 50k miles. Actually mine's leaking from the front, but the rear is still dry. It's been leaking since I bought the car over 2 years ago and I just haven't gotten around to it yet since it's not anything more than a nuisance.
