Ok, get a mirror, move the spark plug wires a little at the back of the block, use a flashlight, and point it down.There's a casting number on the part of the engine on the top of the bellhousing flange. you should see 5.7 cast into the block back there also.
If there's a little cast in tag that says made in mexico, it's a replacement engine, and all bets are off except it is a 350 block.
To determine the heads, pull a rocker cover, and look for the casting numbers at or near the valve spring bases. the last three numbers gives the head type.
Call Chevrolet, and ask them what the casting numbers fit.
