OK. So i got my stock exhaust system off with actually no problems. Was thinkin of perhaps drilling a few small holes in the fiberglass material in the converter to perhaps help flow better. Probably a stupid idea, but wondering if anyone has done this? I don't want to straight pipe it through, because I don't really like that "hollow" tin sound.

I am also a little worried as I can see the O2 sensor right behind the material.

Ideas?

I replaced my cats with straight pipe and the sound is much better. You can beat the material out of the cats with a long bar and hammer but I heard it creates resonance.

Oh yea, it does! I had a 88 Iroc I beat the fiberglass out and it sounded horrible! I ended up pulling the whole cat off and welding in a straight pipe inside. Helped me pass inspection, but wouldn't now - as NY now does a smog test.
