Default Which clamps

I just got some eliminator pipes from Corvette Central and they came with this type of clamp:

Is there any advantage to going to this type of clamp?

They cost about 4x what the first first clamp cost. Is it worth it?

Also... anyone have any tips on measuring the existing exhaust pipes for the impending cuts? It's a simple job, but I want to make sure I take everything into consideration.

The first clamp will put a crimp in the pipe making it difficult to remove or re-install.
The second clamp picture is a Marman type of clamp...not what your are thinking of. The Marman style clamps two flanges together...and will not work on exhaust pipe.

What you are thinking of is the band style of clamp. These clamps work great, look neater and do not crimp the pipe. However you do need to have slots in the ends of the pipe that goes on the outside. In your case the eliminators have these and so the band clamps will work just fine.

The problem you may have is getting the right size to fit. I bought 3" clamps to do this very same thing, but the clamps do not go down in diameter enough to clamp the 2 3/4" pipe. The only other size band clamp I was able to find is a 2 1/2"...and I have no idea if these will go large enough for the 2 3/4" pipe on our cars.

The best price to get the band clamps is Pypesexhaust.com.

Good luck,
