For the past few years I've had to add clutch fluid every few months. The clutch gets soft and the shifter gets notchy and I know it's time to add clutch fluid. It's also wet under the car, not crazy, just a small leak and it could be oil. Is this a sign of the clutch slave cylinder going? Could it be the source of my leak also? If I need a new clutch slave cylinder, how do I ensure I don't get one of the ones with the reversed seal?
I had the same thing happen with my 93 until the clutch started slipping. The slave cylinder leaked into the bell housing contaminating my clutch disc. I replaced the slave but am now nursing the car until I replace the clutch.
You need to replace the clutch master, hose and slave ASAP, or you run the risk of damaging your transmisson. If you have a six speed, you should go to http://www.zfdoc.com and read up on the clutch hydraulic system.
Thanks for the info guys! Sounds like I need to do something yesterday. It is a 1994 6-speed. I checked out zfdoc.com and it sounds like the only gaurantee of a good part is to buy a cast slave cylinder. Has anyone had good/bad experiences with these? Alternatively, what does Bill at zfdoc charge to correct the seal on the DOM version?
No leak on the carpet. Do I still need to replace the master and hose at the same time?

Geez, quit putting this off or you'll ruin your tranny like I did. I had to replace 1st and 3rd gear and synchros, along with a bunch of other $$$ stuff.
