Default lost my helms: need help

ok, so i lost my helms, new one on order.. Started to pull the engine today, and well theres some differences from pulling a motor from a 57 chevy (Thought I could do it without the manual... maybe not at this point.)

I cannot find out how to speperate the axel from the transmission / rear end so I can pull the tranny and motor both at the same time. I got the exhaust off the motor is moving with the lift etc... just need to get the driveshaft out to give me the extra play I need.

I got all the stuff off the front, the heads are off, the exhaust is off, just need to seperate the tranny from the axel, Id rather not ahve to take the bell housing bolts off unless its not possible to both at once. So you can skip all the steps that say remove alt / ac / power steering, exhaust , exhaust manifold etc..

I tried taking off the two bolts that go from the reinforcemnt in the front, and hoping to just pull the motor/tranny foward and out, but it only moved forward about 2 inches before getting stuck, so basically i just need to get that driveshaft out and I can handle the rest.

Do i just take the reinforcemnt beam that looks like [x where X is the driveshaft and the beam is the [. I started to take it off tonight, but it started getting late, but im anxious to get the motor/tranny out now that I have the money for the long planned "upgrades".

Any advice on how to proceed would be great, Feel free to ask more questions if this post is not clear. You would be doing my car a favor by responding, so she can get out this spring

Thanks!

Remove c beam and there are 2 straps that hold the u-joint into the diff., they are 8mm bolts. Drop driveshaft and pull out of tranny.

As clarification, remove the two straps from the diff yoke to free up the drive shaft. Push the drive shaft forward so the u joint will clear the diff yoke, and swing the drive shaft out of the C beam and pull back to slide it out of the transmission slip yoke. You will probably want to support the transmission with a floor jack, but then remove the two vertical bolts attaching the C beam to the transmission. You may have to repeat the C beam unbolting at the diff, also. Once the C beam is clear of the transmission, you should be able to remove the engine and transmission as an assembly. Unlike the '57 Chevy, your engine has side motor mounts. If you haven't, you will have to remove the long bolt that holds the mount bolted to the engine to the frame bracket.
