When I bought my 95 Vette used, it didn't come with a keyless entry remote. I would think that all vettes that year or newer came with automatic door locks/hatch release. If so where can I get a replaement?
Also.. I was pulling into a parking lot one day, and my hatch release popped and hatch came up. THe light on the dash "passive keyless entry" came on and stayed on. THe hatch release kept popping.. I couldn't close the hatch. I pulled the fuse on the hatch and it all stopped. I haven't put the fuse back in yet for safety.
What gives?
Don't know when keyless entry started but I have it on my '94 and I think it is the same thru '96. Watch eBay as well as the Forum for a buy on a replacement fob (clicker). I picked up a spare on eBay for just over $40.00 and it works great. Dealers charge over $100, I think.
Not sure why your hatch popped and you got the PKE message. It almost sounds like you have a clicker somewhere in the car triggering the locks. Have you checked under & behind the seats?
The shop manual on my 93 has a good diagnostic for the PKE. When mine acted up I shorted the 2 pins in the diagnostic connector to check for any codes that had been set. There were no codes but it now worked and has been working for the past 20 months.
I tried following the instructions in the owners manual, remote comes with the same instructions. At the end when I turn the key off the PKE light is supposed to begin flashing to show it is in program mode. It never does this.
It just stays on solid.
Are you familiar with the info Carroll B mentioned. If you are I can send you some stuff that may help.
Not yet. I have owned this LT4 for less than a week. No Helms manual yet and no familiarity with this car. I have had the 86 for a long time and the manual for it, but that is not a lot of help...
I just did the same thing for my 94. I found one from another forum member and got it for 60 bucks - a great deal since the dealer wanted 170.00.
Be sure when you go to program it that you leave it in the house while you get the car into program mode according to the instructions. Then when you bring the keyfob into the car it will lock onto its presence and the PKE light will stop flashing. My keyfob works a much greater distance from the car than they advertised, so maybe that is your problem too. Hope this helps.
