I believe it was part of the Z5G package of equipment added at BG to cars with the B2K package. I'm not the expert though, I might be wrong.

Seems like you might want to have your noise diagnosed...if it is the diff, you can get Dana 36's very cheap...you will need to stay in the 3:07 range on gears with the power you make...not as many teeth and all are a bit beefier...avoid any dead hooks and the 36 will live behind that power for a good long time...if you plan to drag race it, suck it up and go to a Dana 44....

BTW, if you end up rebuilding or replacing your Dana 36 you may want to look into cryo treating the parts... this will add some strength to the diff...

The 3.54:1 was the early 89 ratio for the ZF. It was changed to 3.33:1 about mid-year.

Any idea where/how much cryo treating is? Also, does the gear grinding sound come from just having to much h/p or? I was doing some testing last night and from what I could tell, it doesn't grind from a full pedal 0-w/e start. However anything over 35 if you are going steady speed and then back off, hammer it , you get the wrrrrr sound...

Default 3.54 Dana 44

It was available in 92. I have one in my 96 Auto. Stamped right on the case. I got it from Contemporary Corvette. Got Pumkin batwing torgue tube and drive shaft. Had my auto yoke put on the drive shaft. They sent it to me UPS. Quite as the stock 36 was.

So what is the going price for a complete D44 rear suspension? I have a spare parts car and might sell it.

Yeah mate, bloody oath you can . Im not sure what they are worth over there, probably around $1,500 with the rear cover, drive shaft and the c-beam. If its complete as in disc to disc with all the suspension parts too then it would be worth even more.
