alright i'm new to this. this is my first car and very pleased with it. i started taking it to school yesterday and all my friends are impressed that my dad got this car for me. but heres the question. i have an 85 vette. which screws do i unscrew to take off the top. the ones that take the torxs 40 tips?

torx screws..yep...two in the front are verticle..the two in the real horizontal

Evidently you don't have the tool in the console that came with the car,or the owners manual that tells you how to remove and store the top.But yes any Torx bit of the correct size previously stated will work.
A word of advise,perform this on a level surface,and with the top removed,be careful of stressing the car too much on steep driveway or other ramps.I'm sure your dad dosn't want to buy you a new windshield too!
