Default upshift indicator light

After I adjusted the TV cable as per the FSM.I have noticed four things.
1.increase in performance.
2.shift points are much more pronounced,it's like..bang!...bang!...bang!
I'm going from dead stop to fast really quick!
3.my fuel economy has gone down considerably around town, but not on the freeway, that I understand, and can accept.
4.my upshift light comes on now,I have never seen it come on before as long as I have owned it.But it comes on even if it's in OD until I get to about 45 or back off the throttle.
Is this the norm?Or is something wrong? Is the ECM sending a false signal to the I/P,or is the OD not kicking in properly?
Engine is up to temp of course,or I don't think the upshift light will come on anyway.TIA.

When the upshift light is on and the shifter is in OD, is the trans actually in OD ? It sounds like it is staying in D a bit too long. If thats the case you may want to reset the cable. It can hurt the trans if it is not correct.

Yes,it does feel as if it's staying in drive a bit too long.I did another ajustment, but no change.I manualy opened the TB to WOT after the cable adjust,I'm going to try having someone sit in the car and actually depress the pedal.Maybe either the TV or the throttle have streached and need to be replaced.I don't know.Thanks.

I would readjust it if i was you
You can smoke that tranny real quick if its not adjusted to spec
take it from me..I smoked my z28 700R4 by playing with that cable in 2days.

The proper way to adjust it is to pull the cable out "towards front of car as far as it can go by pushing in the tab while pulling cable" then after that is done remove any floor mats and push the gas pedal to the floor"WOT not running(started) of course" and it so self adjust its self

You will hear it click

Then leave it alone after that
If it shift to slow still replace the cable "its streched out"

I learned the hard way and i dont want to see you smoke your tranny in your Vette

Good Luck

Thanks,I don't want to smoke it either.I'll try the pedal method tomarrow and see if that cures it.Like I said it never did it before the adjustment,so I think I can rule out the tranny itself.According to the FSM it says after ajusting ,to move the throttle to the WOT stop position,it dosn't really say how,by hand or by pedal. But I've heard both are acceptable.I will also check that my throttle stop is correct, thanks again.

Got it!Throttle was not going WO because I had not opened the linkage hard enought to ratchet out the sleeve after pushing it rearward.Luckily I haven't driven too far or too hard. Now it shifts properly, and the upshift light comes on and goes out at the right time, runs great, thanks guys

To check the TCC, get the car up to 60, keep your foot steady on the gas, then touch the brake pedal, and watch the tach, the torque converter will unlock, and the RPM goes up 400 RPM, then lock, and the RPM goes back down.
I'ts a great way to sort of cheat when someone is on your butt, touch the brake, the brake lights go on, the TC unlocks, and nail it. it might down shift, but the 3 or 4 seconds advantage from the TC unlocking over your opponent is worth it. Besides, they will think you are slowing down with the brake light on and then you are 5 or 6 car lengths ahead of them by the time they catch on.
