Power Steering Pump took a Dump?

Make sure you assemble the puller tool correctly or you'll eff it up or your pump.
The pointed end goes in the pump shaft center for removal, the half circles only go on one way, small ID toward the pulley. On reinstall, make sure and get the right puller piece threaded into the pump shaft until it bottoms out. Most of the rental tools are jacked up, I had to cut new threads on it with my tap n die set to use it.
And don't be a dummy, orient the hose clamps where you can get to them later, never tighten one onto a part before installing it unless that's the only way to do it.

Thanks for the walk through. That is my project for tomorrow morning.
LOL I hear ya on the clamp positioning..been there done that, didn't even want the tshirt.

I have to say is, it took HALF the time with a friend helping. If you have to replace your PS pump, have someone give you a hand. It's invaluable to not getting frustrated!!!
So I was going to buy the pulley tool but Autozone never has any of their rentals for sale.. so whatever... the manager said I could keep that one and i would just get charged for it later.
After getting home, I pulled the pulley off in under 2 mins and then packed the tool back in the case. Needless to say, I will definitely be returning it after seeing what it was and the fact I will NEVER use it again most likely.
After reinstalling everything and starting it all up, adding fluid, etc.. I did what was mentioned in other threads to turn the wheel a bazillion times from lock to lock until the air was out. I think I did it about a half-gazillion until it was MOSTLY quiet.
I noticed there was no more turbulence in the PS fluid reservoir and it wasn't frothy any more and didn't appear to be leaking anymore.
I took it for a test drive around some twisties, around the neighborhoods to do a lot of left/right turns, ran around the main roads and did a few u-turns and when I got back, the noise was about 95% gone.... and still no more leaking. I checked the fluid again and it had not leaked any, and was still the correct consistency.
I feel like its a brand new car now!
Hooray! I accomplishment yet another PITA part replacement on my own
