Default Instument Cluster Connection Location??

I need to find the instrument cluster connection on my 88 coupe to finish the diagnosis of my cruise control problem. I checked the servo, vacuums and brake pedal switch per the chevy electrical supplement and everything is fine. That leaves the instrument cluster part yet to check. Trouble is I don't know where to access it. I am hoping I can get to it under the driver side hush panel but I have a feeling I will have to pull the cluster. Anyone know for sure?
Thanks for the help.

Rich

It plugs right in to the cluster, right side. Very tight fit for splicing in wires or checking connections. I'd try and trace the wires to it from below.

So you have run through all the diagnostics on pp 8A-34-4 & 8A=34-5 in your '88 FSM?

Per Gordon Killibrew's book on the digi-cluster:
-disconnect the cruise servo
-w/ a fused jumper wire, jumper C of the servo to ground
-jumper A of the servo to batt + terminal
-start the engine and let it run for a minute to build up vac
-shut off the engine and jumper E of the servo to the batt +
This should pull the servo all the way in, as during acceleration

If the servo passes this test, go to the cluster for further testing.

Yes, it passes the servo test so it looks like it is either the signal from the transmission or the signal from the instrument cluster. I did the last part first 8A-34-5 because it ewas easier to get to. Now I need to do the tests on page 8A-34-4.

Understood.

So you need to follow the instructions on 8-C-5 to remove the cluster. Here I had to pull out one end to reach behind and release the connectors.
