ignition on an 85
the car always turns on but sometimes there is a delay. it turns on right away half the time but the other half it take about a second and a half for combustion. please help. and heres another question. when the car turns on sometimes white smoke comes out of the exhaust, i'm guessing it unburned fuel as it smells like it. if anyone could help me on that too please do. thanks

and heres something else that i should say. sometimes when i push down on the throttle it hesitates for half a second or so. and heres another one that i thought was really wrong. my friends 4runner kept up with it while i was flooring it.

Well, there's the basics, like when was the last time it was tuned up, and fuel filter changed. But what you described really sounds like injectors to me. Checking the fuel pressure is just one basic test that should be done, along with ohming the injectors. It's all pretty simple to do, you just need a fuel pressure guage and a digital voltage ohm meter.

okay well i talked to my uncle and he asked the previous owner what needed to be changed on the car. he said all the spark plugs/wires, filter, were changed. he told me that it needed an oil change and that will be done soon. but i'll try what you're talking about. thanks
