i am wanting to step up to a 383 in my 96 lt4 and i have the rotating assembly ready just need the block prep and oil pan for it.. but i have a forged eagle neutrally balanced crank and i know that the DM flywheel is for externally balanced 1 peice rear main cranks.. does anyone know what flywheel is available for this setup.. i don't mind going to a single mass flywheel? anyone have a setup that they would recommend? its going to be in the 500-550fwhp range?
I'm running an SPEC aluminum single mass flywheel in my 383LT4. I have an internally balanced assembly as well. There is a little noise at idle with the clutch out, but other than that I cannot tell the difference in terms of noise.
i think that is for the stock style balancing.. they call them internally balanced but the only thing internally balanced is the front and the rear has an externally balanced (weighted) flywheel/flexplate.. my crank is a one piece rear main crank balanced internally in both the front and rear.

All you need to do it remove the extra weight they add to it and you're all set, then it is neutral balanced. It's a just a couple of allen screws
