I recently purchased a 87 vette. It intermittently throws code 34. At times the engine idle is smooth as silk. Other times it rough as hell. Any comments would be appreciated. Also, the drivers side headlight is a lot dimmer than the passenger side. I replaced the headlight and still have the same problem?
Follow the link posted above to find out what is causing the
ECM to show a code 34. Read through it a few times to get the idea. As for one headlight being more dim than the other, I would check the voltage on the driverside headlight. It's more than likely a bad connection somewhere.
It would be benificial to purchase a FSM for your year car. You can find them used or new from $40-120 or so. That is where the link came from. Also it will tell you how to troubleshoot the headlight system among other.
I fell for a bad connector. It all volted out properly and I changed MAFs, but had the same problem. So, while you are checking everything, make sure the connector's female parts are not moving and causing a poor connection. If they are, re-crimp the connector and try again.
Search for threads started by me and you'll find it. "Idle Problems" is one of them.
