Default Impala SS Head Gaskets -

Anyone running these? I believe the thickness is 0.026", did you see an bump in compression or power?
Any water leakage issues?

I've been running the Imp SS head gaskets for over 4 years without a problem. You should see about a 1/2 point compression jump over the stock gaskets.

I use them. I have had them on for about 3 years now. No problems. I was told they would take the compression from 10.4 to 10.6

What is the quality of the head gaskets compared to Fel Pro. I have the Fel Pro now but LE (Head porter) suggests the Impala head gaskets. I'm guessing it is due to the thickness. If so does Fel Pro make some that are the same thickness as the Impala's? Is the quality the same? I already had the stock GM head gasket blow once. I'd rather not go through that again. I've ben told by many even the dealerships that our GM C4 head gaskets are garbage. Are the Impala gaskets the same material and quality as the stock C4 head gaskets?

Thanks

Is this Impala gasket the same one TPIS sells as their "thin" gasket and if so what is the GM part number?

The Impala's .029" and the performance Felpro is .039". By comparison the factory Corvette gasket is .049". If I remember right from using the calculator, it's nearly a .4 gain in SCR going from the .049" to the .029" gasket. I've used the Impala gasket a couple of times with no problems. When I built the stroker, I used the Felpro because it made my quench come out where I wanted it. Felpro also makes a standard stock replacement gasket and I don't know what the thickness of it is. The .039" gasket is an upgrade with modifications to the water passages that is said to improve cooling efficiency.
