Well, I just got back from the track....on the back of a tow truck. Halfshafts are still in place which means I probably wiped out the spider gears(again!!!).
I am going to drink a beer and go to bed. :(

Re: Short and sweet... (2FST4U)
Don't feel alone. I forgot to reset the HALS on stiff when I left the track last night , hit a BIG bump and smashed the trans cooler.
Ya, a flatbed for me TOO :(
OUCH! That's not to bad though. I ahve been leaving the hole very easy and getting 1.8x 60' and then easing the shift to second and then hammering it. First run, sucked my pump dry after a 1.81 60'. Second run....Little spin in the water, pull out, smoke them down and I broke when the tires grabbed when I came of the throttle. I didn't even make it to the line!!! Heck, at least let my adrenaline start flowing as the staging lights and ambers start to fall!!!
Oh well, I have to get this fixed by this weekend for the Vette Viper shootout in Seguine.
Well, the twin disk didn't even get a chance to hammer on the rear!!! This was during the burnout! I would have felt better if I broke it on the line!
:D
Mackey,
That is just not what this car is about! If I was really shooting for 9's, which crossed my mind for a while, I would probably do it, but this is a daily driver with A/C and everything! I don't mind babying it out of the hole and hammering it down the track. It might take a little away from the time slip, but that is OK. I can live with that...
Sorry to hear that Chris. When you stop and think about it, how many guys do you know with 450+ RWHP and six speeds who are now racing boats on the lake. It seems like most of the guys have trashed their cars, sold off the parts and retired to the lake. Sounds like the solid axle is the way to go.
Sorry to hear that, I broke an Axle/Spindle on Motor earlier this year and had to ride home on a trailer. Hope you get it fixed quick. Someone mentioned Tom's Differnential, he is the man with the bulletproof driveline parts.
Chris , I was so sorry to see that happen. If you need any help on friday with the gear swap give me and Sean a call. I cant believe your luck . Had fun hangin out with you again
That's no fun!!! Where the heck am I gonna plumb the nitrous on a trailer!!
Just after the intercooler ;).
Which car were you running? The blue one or the black one? Is this the same rear end that popped before?
At least you have Pyle Brothers there local. When I need something done to the rear I either have to ship it to them or drive down for them to work on it. Ge the hardened spider gears from Tom's (if that is what went wrong).
Yup, Jim and I were both sitting on the side after we broke. I think he was only 5 -7 cars back. Glad to hear it was just a u-joint for you. After jacking the car up, that is what I found on mine to. Man, you are another 30 miles north of me!!! I don't want to know what your tow bill was!!! Mine was bad enough. :)
Hey Trace! I was nice hanging out with you guys again.
So, 11.5x, huh?!?! Not bad at all for a motor that can't hold compression and burns oil! Nice!
Too bad your Vette won't make it to the Vette Viper shootout. I would love to see the look on peoples faces are you dust built C5's in an '84. Just keep the hood shut. ;)
