d44 question
i got a d44 that had cracked a main cap that was repaired. i really don't want to reuse the repaired cap. can i just swap it with another one? if so where could i get one?

Nope! Those bearing caps are like the main caps on an engine block. They are not readily available and would require machine work to fit a different cap to an existing carrier casting.

I would. The housing and the main caps are married to each other for life. No reason at all that you could not swap the other internals.
