C4 Headers

I'm sure a lot of people have asked about headers, but my search didnt turn up anything C4 related.

I just put aluminum cylinder heads on my '85 and i'm looking to get a decent set of headers. I know Hookers are probably the best but its not exactly in my budget range for the time being. I'm looking at Hedman Elites but I dont know if they'll work with straight plug heads or not. Does anyone know which headers will work with straight plugs?

Talk to the guys at Melrose Headers - I believe thay offer two different sets of headers for early C4's to handle the issue of either angle or straight plugs, a search for their website should yield a phone number. I have Melrose headers on my '94 with their exhaust piping back to Corsa mufflers and I can say their set up sounds great and looks even better. The fit was excellent.

Funny on the Search, i just did one (included archive posts) and came up with 6 pages of posts concerning headers...

Funny on the search I did(straight plug hedman, included the archive posts and restricted it to the c4 section) and came up with 10 posts including this one. From the relevant posts I looked at it depends on what heads you have, some work with some hedman and others might not. Looks like a crap shoot

Did you search in the C4 Tech/Performance section? Every post in there is C4 related.

Your '85 came stock with straight plug heads, so any header, including the Hedman Elites, listed to fit an '85 will fit your car. Hookers are NOT the best choice, here.

Thanks CFI, that does make a lot of sense. I chose to stick with straight plug heads to keep everything simple. Looks like i'm going with Hedman elites
