Don't know if this has been asked before but just to explore the possibilities,
could a 93 LT1 be upgraded with a 94 pcm - the advantage of course is that beginning with the 94's, the cpu's are reprogrammable and therefore computer tunable.
I believe the '94 (which I have) relies on a couple more sensors (like an extra O2).. and the such. Not sure how easy it is to do this. I know there are a few people on here that know a lot about reprogramming the computers and can probably tell ya.
That would be very difficult as the 92-93 LT1s are speed density cars, while the 94-96s are MAF cars. Entirely different engine controls. I think the speedomter controls are even different, with the 92-93 being mechanically-driven, while the 94-96 being electronic. You would essentially have to rebuild a complete 94-96 engine compartment with all sensors, relays, and associated hardware in order to use a 94-96 PCM. Seems your best bet is to just have a new EPROM chip flash-programmed by a chip burner, such as Fast Chips' Ed Wright or similar. You can still change things on your 93's computer, the only difference being you have a removable chip instead of a complete PCM unit.
It really depends on what you are gonna do. If you use a 94 computer from a manual transmission car it won't be all the bad. You will need the 94' computer, the entire engine harness, mass air meter, and the intact ducting. You will also have to repin your ALDL connector as well. You will not get any codes or malfunctions if the third 02 sensor is not used. There might be more, but I can't remember right now.
