Torque Wrench Question
The instructions are telling me to torque a bolt to 180 inch lbs?
However, I only have a torque wrench measured in foot lbs.
Can any tell me how to convert the 180 inch lbs into foot lbs?
Thanks in advance.

Divide by 12 = 15 ftlbs. (12inches in a foot)

Thank you
I wasn't sure it would be that simple.

I am looking to get a torque wrench.
Is it better to get a 3/8 or 1/2 inch wrench?

Depends on the sockets you have and the range of torques you need.
There are only a few places on a car where you really need precise torque (head bolts, spindle nuts, etc.), and 1/2" is more appropriate for those.
Most torque specifications on a car are there simply to keep simians from overtightening things.

If you get a 1/2 inch torque wrench don't try and use it in the low range (where you are in inch/lb territory) the ones I've used are completely inaccurate in that range.

I have two 1/2" torque wrenches (150ft lb and 250 ft lb), a 3/8" (inch lb scale). I bought the bigger 250 ft lb wrench when I did the brakes (something had a torque spec of 175 ft lb If I remember correctly).
