window ribbon...dumb question
I can see where you said someone had replaced the ribbon before...alot of people will use screws/nuts instead of pop rivets GM loves to use.
Btw,These ribbons were very popular on Dodge minivans and etc.I knew a guy who replaced his ribbon 4 times in 8 years on the same window.
They just dont last very long.Use aloot of good grease and it should be good to go for a little while. This guy used his van everyday, put 300K on it so thats probably why his replacements didnt last too long.
As long as it lasts 6 months or more, I'll be happy. I'm just fixing this car up to sell, so the next owners can upgrade if they want.
When I first tore into the door, I didn't see the piece that had broke off, so I was a little concerned with figuring out the proper length, but the piece was down there, so no problem. I cleaned the track and used plenty of white lithium grease.
It wasn't a hard project at all. I would sugest anyone do it themself before forking over probably 3 or 4 hours of labor to have someone else do it.
