My 87 vette, manual trans, bucks when i shift sometimes feeling as if the transmission/motor were hanging from a piece of string. I'm assuming because the mount(s) are bad. I guess the question is, which mounts should I change out? Would the transmission mounts cause this, or the engine mounts, or both? Should I change all mounts since the car is 20 years old? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks a lot.
The transmission is not mounted to the frame in the conventional style you are thinking of.
There are two engine mounts. The front of the trans is bolted to the bellhousing (which is bolted to the engine), and the rear of the trans is bolted to a C beam which runs to the rear end housing unit. There are two bolts on both the front and rear of the C beam. It is possible they have loosened up, so check them immediately.

General Location of these bolts? By chance would you know the torque required too? I will check them out ASAP thanks a lot
I'll have to check my FSM when I get home for the torque specs on the C beam bolts.
Front C beam bolts are about center of the car - you'll see where the C beam meets the trans (OD unit) tail shaft. Rear C beam bolts are just ahead of the rear end, where the C beam meets the housing. I can't recall if the exhaust system blocks view and/or access to the bolts, but Murphy's Law says it probably does.
