Oil pump Screen???
How in the world do you get the screen into the pump, I am trying to get mine in and I have put it into a vice and lubed it up and it still will not go in. What is the trick to get this thing in to the pump????

The screen is a press fit into the pump body to prevent it from falling out. You can try a snug fitting open end wrench on the tube(should have a bulge on it) then lightly hammer on the wrench to drive the tube into the pump, keep moving the wrench around so it goes in evenly. Method #2, if you have some tubing laying around that the screen tube fits into you can make a driver tool. Cut the large tube to 6-8" long then trim half of it off on one end. This section surrounds the screen, then you hammer on this to drive the pump screen into the pump body. It's also a good idea to have a "good" welder tack weld the screen tube to the pump body, it the press fit fails and the screen falls off you have no oil pressure. Make sure to remove the spring otherwise the welding heat may cause the spring to lose tension and low oil pressure is the result. Hope this helps, Al
