I'm replacing the front "Y" pipe on my 87 auto and was wondering the correct size of the nuts that attach to the collector studs of the exhaust manifold. The manifold is stock and the nuts are so rusted I can't figure out whether their metric or standard.
I was just happy to get them loose without breaking any studs The nuts look like either 3/8 standard or M10 metric. Hoping to replace them to prevent problems in the future.
Take a standard 3/8 bolt and see if it threads without binding. If it binds then try a 10MM bolt. Take the nut to Home Depot or your local hardware store and try it out.
It's all 3/8-16 thread - nuts and manifolds, and both ends of the studs. Buy a set of replacement stainless studs (something like 3 1/2" long will work) and use brass nuts (with lockwashers - also stainless) - it'll make it easy Next time...
