Ok once again the wifes car is doing it's best to stump me. So here is the situation, car was working just fine. Then the other night we were coming home from dinner and the turn signals started to act funny. Left signal is just fine but the right signal doesn't blink properly, it just barely fast blinks. Not even enough to really make the indicator in the dash lightup. And on top of that when you hit the brakes the dash lights (lights behind the radio and under center console) light up. It also blows the tail light fuse now also. It all happened at the same time so I am not positive on the actual order of occurance of the events. So I get home and replace the fuse and it will not blow until the parking lights are activated, but all other symptons remain. I checked the obvious culprits, bulbs and sockets and such but I am out of ideas sort of. I hate this car.(just for the record) So any suggestions????????
You would think the problem is on the right side of the car since that is the blinker that seems to be affected, but who knows. All bulbs looked good, sockets nice and full of grease. Nothing corroded or rusty, who knows. Do you think its possible that its the blinker itself ( the actual module that makes the lights blink) Worth a shot maybe.
dude ,more than likely you have a bad bulb or socket, double check and remember that its more than the front and rear bulb involved you also have a marker and spot on the right front.the marker blinks with the front and the spot is steady.
The flasher works on current. Higher current, faster flashing. You clearly have a short circuit in one of the right side lamps which is the cause of your right blinker cycling rapidly and for too short a period to see the right turn signal indicator on the dash. Also this is the cause of blown fuse when you brake. There is a green wire from the turn signal switch that goes to the right side stop/turn lamps. You need to trace this green wire all the way back to the sockets and disconnect the three connectors one at a time while measuring the resistance to ground at each connection. The connectors are C104 (right hand side of steering column [11 pins on this connector]), C209 (right side of instr panel by the fuse block [15 pins on this connector]), C402 (RH side of cargo compartment rear part of wheel house [4 pins on this connector]).
JFB, thanks for that info. On the last connector that you mentioned (C402) is that connector inside the car or inside the wheelwell on the outside of the car? Hopefully I will have some time tonight to take a look.
