Default Removing charcoal canister...

I'm going to remove my charcoal canister since I'm running with no emmisions equipment, would it be alright to simply cap off the vapor line running from the tank to the canister and pop on a vented fuel cap and call it done?

Precisely like that.

You can even pull the rubber around the tank filler and cap the vent there, then remove the line completely from the engine compartment.

I believe you should be alright as long as your tank is vented and the old vapor lines are properly sealed.

Watch out for Bogus though, he'll fine you $10,000.

Will the fumes blow up your garage?

Only as often as any pre-1970 car in existence.

The fumes aren't to bad? I keep imagining a pilot light causing an explosion.

I let 2 gallons of gas leak onto my garage floor once and evaporate into the closed off garage. Never lit.

OK good to know! I've read other questions on deleting it but didn't want to see anyone have a fire.

The smell of gas will reek with a vented gas cap, which you will NEED...I fixed/replaced the cannister on my vette when I owned it and installed new rubber hoses and etc.It doesnt hurt performance to recycle the fumes back into the engine.I could not stand the smell in the garage or when stopping and getting out of the car with the vented cap.

Something to think about.

just leave the line to the tank open. mine has been this way for years.
no significant fume issues... my garage is still intact, despite it having a gas water heater...
