Default 92Lt1 knock sensor question

I have a 92 Lt1,6-spd. I have a full open exhaust and I am going to order some full lenght headers. I was wondering about the knock sensor. Should I be concerned about it? I was just thinking about crawling under there and taking them out and putting bolts in or something, Is that a dumb idea? I did a search before I posted and apparently the Lt4 module will only work for the 94-96 models. I know when I get the money to put my cam and heads on I will have a chip custom burnt to desensitze it but, the way my bank roll looks that might be light years away. Any thoughts fella's?

Leave it be. You probably know this, but a knock sensor is a specially designed listening device for car engines.

It listens for engine knock, or detonation (pinging). Detonation can be very bad for an engine and is the result of the fuel/air mixture exploding too quickly instead of burning evenly and rapidly.

This is due to either bad fuel, ignition timing which is too high, or built up carbon deposits in the engine (which increases the compression ratio). The sensor is small and consists of a piezoelectric sensor that listens for knock by detecting pressure.

It is very sensitive and can be rendered useless if dropped. The vibrational pressure is then converted into a voltage and sent to the ECU for evaluation.

Don't mess with the knock sensor. I experimented with mine on an L-98 and proceeded to blow the engine, cracked ring lands on 4 pistons. I never heard a thing, no pings, no marbles in a coffeee can, nada, just a black flag when the car started smoking from oil being blown all over the engine compartment.
