I have a 94 6speed. I was messing around on Ebay and found a guy selling a cross frame brace off a convertible pretty cheap. I was wondering if it would stiffen up my coupe and if it was worth the troubles. Tell me what you think guys.

i will help lots on my conv when i take it off to do some work and drive the car you can totally feel the difference. on a hard top it should help a lot .its not a bolt in for a hard top the front bolt holes are in the frame .but the rear holes are not you will have to mark and use a punch .start off with a small one then work your way up so you roll the metal up that is so for when you tap it you will get more threads .or maybe you can drill out the holes and weld in some nuts .then you got the floor plates that are under the carpet that bolt to the x brace those are still available from gm cheap.i would bolt it in because even the hard top vettes have bad frame flex

My dad owns a conveyor/food processing equipment installation company. He has these nuts that look like sleeves. When you tighten them they flatten out on the backside and stay there. I used them to fix my parking brake handle pivot bolt. I might use a set of those and weld them in later.
Thanks for the info. I can get it for about $75 so I was thinking even a little bit would help.
i was going to tell you about those nuts but could not remember what they where called .and i also thought they where aluminum so you cant weld them to the steal .but if your dad got the metal ones then do it up .what I'm doing to mine now is I'm boxing it with 4 inch wide 1/8 inch thick steel plate I'm almost done it i will send you some pics when I'm done it .but i can tell you its 100 times stronger now before i can bend it with my hand when i would stand on it and flex the 2 points. now its so solid its going to make a huge difference
I think it certainly won't hurt anything. Go for it.
Do you do track days? AutoX? Fast canyon running? SCCA? ALMS?

___________ I ain't easily impressed....
I do track day on my bike. I used to SCCA Auto Cross and a little drag racing....hoping to get back into both. Ever hear of Deal's Gap? 318 Curves in 11 miles www.tailofthedragon.com The Vette LOVES that place. I do some agressive back road driving. Mostly do a lot of normal driving across some rough twisty roads.
