Well I had been reading that I needed to use my Parking brake more often to allow the brakes to set themselves. So I started using it all the time. Well I started to hear a thumpimg noise (Left front?) as I was comming to a stop. Thought it was brake related, but now it does it without the brakes engaged.
I planned on taking it to the shop (a mechanic that I have used for years, but he has not worked on my '94 vette because I have only had it 6 months), but I wanted to take a peek so I tried to pop the hood. Hood latch would not release, so I ordered the tool to pop the hood so the mechanic can look at it.
Any ideas what the thumping could be? It only happens at low speed and can be magnified if turning the wheels. I do get a small vibration between 60-65 mph.
I have had the wheel off and back on. Can you over tighten them?
Take the wheel off and grab hold of the caliper and see if it will move up and down.
If it does, then the caliper bolts are probably worn and need replacing. You may also have to install bushings in the caliper if it's worn too bad. I would also check the rotor to be sure it isn't warped. (Could also be causing your 'shuddering')
I had it happen to my blazer and I replaced the caliper bolts and rotor. No more 'thumping' noise.

sounds like either a bad wheel bearing in the front, or the sway bar bushings might be shot, either the mounting ones, or the A frame ones, a shock bushing could be bad or loose, or a bad shock

You were in the right area. The caliper circlip is gone which made the pin slide out and rub against the wheel.
I kept looking behind the hub and I kept getting punched by this pin that was sticking out.
