Default 84 Battery drain

Friends 84 has a problem with the battery draining to zero volts over night. The alternator was bad and has been replaced. Battery is a new optima it was tested and is good. This did not happen before the alt went out. So what next on the list any know problems with 84s doing this.

Another bad alt, bad wire to battery block, bad fuze wire to battery, or he might have a drain from lights, etc....

First, at night, check for underhood lights, vanity mirror lights, door panel map lights, center console light. Don't leave the key in the ignition because it keeps the theft deterrent circuit on. Does he have a radar detector, aftermarket alarm or radio or audio amplifier, CB transceiver? Check em. Remove the negative cable from the battery and connect an ammeter from the cable to the battery terminal and after the courtesy lights time out, measure the leakage current. GM says it should not exceed 50 milliamps. My 87 draws 27 ma. Pull the courtesy fuse and watch the ammeter as you remove each fuse, a fuse that causes a dramatic drop in leakage current is the circuit that needs further examination. I believe on the 84 there are a number of wires with fusible links on the starter connection. These need to be removed one at a time while watching the ammeter.
Are the seat motors warm? Several posters found a defective seat motor keeping one of the motors on discharging the battery. Let us know what you find.
