Default Wiring Harness Upgrade Problem

I've had a miss in my 96 automatic for some time now. I broke down and took it to the shop because I don't have the time to have it down for days.
The water pump was leaking and since I had the plugs, wires and Opti changed last fall, I could only ***-u-me that the Opti was ruined by the leaking water pump.
I had the shop change the Opti, water pump and 2- O2 sensors. I drove it 2 miles down the road headed home when I noticed it was still missing and the SES light was on.
I took it back and they looked it over for several hours to find that the wiring harness upgrade that was done last summer during my transmission rebuild (at the trans shop) was wired wrong to the computer.

They straightened out the wires and no miss. $72.00 for rewire.........$1000.00 for all the rest....OUCH

I wish I could post more info on exactly what was wrong with the wiring harness but I haven't had a chance to talk to them.

Your post is a little confusing to me, sounds like you did the diagnosis
(***-u-me) in spite of taking it to a shop for repair? If you trust them to do the work let them make the call. They did find the problem when you took it back.
If you had let them diagnose it perhaps you wouldn't be out the price of the opti. If I misunderstood your post and they did diagnose the miss as being caused by the opti I would expect them to refund that part of the repair cost.

Yes, I have to agree with you. I need to stop telling them what is wrong and to just make it right. The problem is I felt they were going to clean the Injectors and replace the water pump. I was worried that the Opti was damaged and needed the change while they were that far into it.

Oh well...at least I can say I have a spare Opti....

Maybe I'll just put it up for sale. I'm sure somebody would take it off my hands rather than pay the price of a new one.....I know I would have.

Can certainly understand you suspecting the opti with the water pump leaking. Happy it is running well again even if the repair was painful, enjoy the ride
