Intermittent Steering Shaft
Does anyone know if this shaft can be rebuilt or where I can buy a new one? It’s the shaft running from the steering column to the rack and pinion connector. Its not the U joints that are bad, it seems the collapsible part is loose (shown in the circle) and making a strange noise when I turn the wheel

Well I dont know what to tell you as I have never seen one like yours.
However there is a newer style shaft on ebay for about $13.00.
It does not have a sleave.

the newer style shaft will not fit... I was sent one by accident from a junkyard when I had to replace mine on my '85. The style you need is from '84-'85 only. I don't remember where I got mine from..... sometimes they sell on ebay for about $40. What happened is the rubber insulation has come apart and the shaft is only being held by the safety pin. Very dangerous to drive with it like this. If that safety pin breaks, then you'll have no steering.
