Hi, I just bought a 1986 corvette. The transmission is stuck in reverse. The previous owner told me it got stuck when he was backing out of the garage after he installed a new flowmaster exhaust system. You can move the shifter around, but the transmission wont shift out of reverse. He also told me he had the trans rebuild a year ago. Anyone know what the problem could be? How can it be fixed? Thanks
ok, i fixed it, it was the linkage, ut know i have another problem. The car feels like its runing on only 6 cylinders, sounds bad. Could it be water in the engine? It was raining bad last night
if its still running its probably not water in the engine, it most likely misfiring, is your ignition system in good shape? It's possible some water got in the dist cap or something..
there are other threads here dealing with tune-ups, visually check stuff though before you start throwing money at it, congrats on the buy, the guys here are awsome and can help with ANYTHING!!

Check the plugs, wires and cap. Who knows, the previous owner may have crossed plug wires.
he he, i bought a car for $200 one time, changed the plug wires around and it ran like a top, the guy i bought it from was p/o'd LOL
p.s. you should start another thread with that heading!!!
