Default May have found the answer to some code 33 type problems

Hi

I hope I have finally tracked down a reoccurring problem this weekend.
For a couple of months I had occasional poor starting and very bad running after a hot restart, this only occurred when the car had been run for at least 1/2 hour and left in the sun for a while. If you could get it to go the car would stumble and run really badly at low revs but clear as the revs increased. The problem would get better as you drove.
Whilst it seemed like a 'Hot soak' temp problem I could never really find the cause Occasional codes set were 33,34 or 44. Part changed were FP, Ignition module, wires, cap, burn off relays; I also had the maf tested and wiring checked out by a local Ampar dealer.
Last weekend it did it again and this week end I fully expected the car to start and run fine now that it was cool, but no the car would start run fine for 5 to 10 seconds and then start missing; idle would drop to 450 and then cut out before I could get to the engine to work on it. Using my wife to keep it running I tied 'wriggling' wires vac lines ect all to no avail. So after looking up some old posts I unplugged the |MAF and she started on the button and ran fine (ses light came up). I tried plugging and unplugging the Maf a few times and the fault is solid unplugged it starts and runs fine, plugged it starts ok but after 5 to 10 secs it runs like a dog.
So I guess it looks like a Maf unless there is some code in the ECM that runs the system completely differently if the maf is not present and this is covering the real fault. Any thoughts?
I Guess the easiest way to find out is a new MAF but with the price over here I wondered about buying a second hand one to test. Is the 86 the same as all of the other TPI maf systems or is it different?

Thanks for all of the help as usual

Barry

Not sure what stores are in the UK, maybe an auto place can order one? Ebay should have them to.

I could be wrong here...so best ask 65Z01, think that's his handle. It seems to me he said several MAFs were the same for the F bodies and he's using one he got from a wrecking yard. Like I said check with him!
