Default Need help with LT4 modification/upgrade!!

I've got LT4 vette which I would like to modify it and still make it a street legal car.

Currently it is quipped with: B&B 3" System Exhaust ; Throttle 52; Hooker Long Headers; SLP Cold Air Induction.

The crank and rods are busted. Which brands should I replace them with??

What is the best stroker that I could install in the range of $1700, made of a very good metal, and can handle nitros?

And which cam can fit best with the stroker??

Anything else I can add to the above??

If any of you got any experience please share it with me...

Thanks in advance..

The LT4 crank is a good unit.. I think its a forged.. if the journals are just scratched I would have it turned down and would reuse it.. if it actually broke into separate pieces or has any cracks in it I would immediately have a machine shop magniflux the block (and main caps) for cracks!!

Crank kits:
The eagle stroker kit has been well received by a number of people. I used a SCAT crank in mine with the stock rods.. But for little $$$ you could got with the Eagle Rods.. SRP makes some nice forged pistons.. I went Hyperuetictic with the Keith Black (silverolite) slugs - BUT THAT IS NOT A GOOD IDEA WITH THE GAS (No2).

Depending on how big of a shot your going to use you might want to consider on of the big 'C' forged cranks (Callies etc..etc..).. and like i said earlier FORGED PISTONS.

Plasma Moly rings, Cleveite 77 bearings and Felpro gaskets are pretty much the min. accepted norm from my understanding.

Call the Luniti or CompCam help line for cam/spring selection (lots of factors on this one).. The hotcam isnt going to do it for you..

also, replace the waterpump and opti while you have it apart!!

Get a good local Dyno Tune.. if thats over your budget there are a few good guys on the board that can take care of you..

I'm doing a stroker upgrade to my 96 LT1 (all the parts are scheduled to be delivered tomorrow).

Before buying them I did a lot of price searching and found some good prices - I didn't write down the exact figures, but somewhere in the range of $1,300 for a EAGLE 4340 forged 3.75 crank, EAGLE forged 'H' beam 6" rods and SRP forged pistons (+.060).

Just do a GOOGLE search and check THUNDERRACING. You should be able to find the best deals pretty easily.

If your crank is busted and the rods too.. I can guarantee the block and heads aren't in happy shape
