Re: Clicking noise when starting car... (scorp508)
1st, buy a new battery........ then get back to us.
yeah I would second that. First I would make absolutely sure all the wires were on the right plugs and the right terminals, all the way on. Then, buy a new battery or put yours on a charger overnight to fully charge, then try to start the car. If it still won't start then we will do some problem solving.
Re: Clicking noise when starting car... (Old Sport)
How do you know the battery is dead? If it clicks but doesn't start it coud be bad starter solinoid contacts. It does sound like you have some plug wires crossed. I'd start there.
Re: Clicking noise when starting car... (95Vette&2000SS)
Alrighty, first this is my 3rd battery in the past 4 months.(Since this one is about a month old, its still in warranty, so I will go switch it again.) Something is draining it, I think its the pioneer head unit (maybe the wiring?), because once I put it in, the battery started dieing.
The battery read 1.7v with the meter.
My grandfather also suggested a bad starter selonoid.
As for the wires being crossed, I followed the picture in the Haynes manual, and went 1 to 1, 2 to 2, etc... I'm sure they are in the right places.
Maybe that manual picture is wrong, Scorp take a look , its right after 1-30 (i believe)
It shows the cylinder numbers, in relation to the distributor hook ups.
Re: Clicking noise when starting car... (Old Sport)
Concerning the amp, are you sure you hooked it up to the 12v circuit that's only on when the ignition is on. If it's hooked directly to the battery it will drain it.
Re: Clicking noise when starting car... (Old Sport)
If the amp is powered all the time it could drain the battery. Remove the battery cable with the ignition off and bearly touch the battery with the cable. If you get a spark then something is using current and the battery is being drained. You may get a tiny spark due to backups (clock, computer, etc.) but it shouldn't be much. If you get a significant spark start pulling fuses (radio) until it reduces. Make sure you disable the hood lights.
