Default Datamaster and 1990 ccm problems

Can anyone clue me in on the trick to get the Datamaster software to talk to my ecm? I followed the info in the datamaster instructions for the 90 and up corvettes reguarding the timing setup changes. Tried everything between 195-205, tried disabling the CCM handshake and the dash update. When I test the com port it comes back O.K. with ccm detected. I actually made one recording using the single key but was unable to get it to connect again.
What is the trick?

it works every time for me and i have a -90.
Got a home made cable with a usb to serial adapter and using the top right connection for ground and the one bottom right for the data from the aldl.
I know that there are several diifrent brands of usb to serial adapters if that might be your problem.

Are you using serial/usb ?
What o/s ?
how slow/quick cpu ?

The only thing that i noticed when i swapped to faster computer i took longer time to get the handshake correct.
My guess i the usb to serial adapters.

I am using a serial port, no usb adapter. Windows 98 o/s. Pentium 3 processor. Did you change any settings in the options page? Digital dash update, or ccm handshake, or any of the setting in the advanced option?
Thanks!

If its not working, then follow this list mate

completely uninstall Data Master from the computer,
restart the computer,
when it starts disable all the virus software,
install Data Master and DO NOT change any connection settings,
restart the computer,
when windows starts, TURN OFF ALL VIRUS AND SPYWARE PROTECTION
then start the Data Master program, make sure youre all plugged in and youre good to go.

Anti virus software and spyware programs can stop it working. Turn off every single program that youre not using and dont need running. (you dont need MSN, Yahoo, AOL, Skype, sound or printer managers, window washer, or any of that stuff going in the background when youre collecting data.)

I have it working now. Had to change the timing speed in the options page and I used a different cable to the data plug. Takes afew tries to connect but it finally does. Thanks for the help!
