Default 95' Headlight Question

Our 95' has the original Plastic OEM Headlights which are getting pretty weak.Question: Would Glass replacements be too heavy on the Motor Gears etc.? Anyone have trouble with stock glass headlights?
Thinking about going with the Sylvania Silver Stars.

If they're getting weak, that's an indication you need to inspect/replace your Delran bushings, not your headlamp lens.

You already have the O.E.M. plastic units the engineers opted for to reduce headlight motor fatigue.

Switching to glass units will only worsen, not help your lazy headlight condition.

Lots of people use the Silver Stars without any problems. But a lot of people will tell you the "glass" headlights are too heavy, and will wear out the bushings too.

I use the Silver Stars on my '96 and have no problems. They are much brighter. I would think as long as your motors and bushings are in good shape, you'd be fine

Another way to go, then would be to order a Headlamp Conversion Kit w/ Standard Halogen Bulbs from Mid America Motorworks, Eckler's, etc..

It simplifies bulb replacements, extends bulb life
Allows upgrade to high intensity bulbs for safer night driving
Lightweight construction saves wear on headlight motors
Rubber dust covers included for longer bulb life
Replaces any 6052 or H6054 sealed beam
Kit includes two headlamp housings with dust boots and either Halogen or HIB bulbs

There have been several threads on upgraded headlights. I went with Hella European lenses with H4 85/80 replaceable bulbs. IME, a dramatic improvement with no downsides other than price, but I wouldn't want to go with any less bulb than what I'm now using.

If I understand correctly, technically one is neither to use European headlight pattern nor Halogen bubs over 55 Watt in the US, so a lot of sources limit their offerings. There are a lot of sound technical reasons why many find the European lens style far superior and because is thows up less light vertically, they are less objectionable to oncoming drivers when one is using higher wattage bulbs.

I'd suggest you try getting them from a specialty source. There's a lot of good information on http://www.rallylights.com and http://www.danielsternlighting.com sites, as well as this forum, if you spend some time hunting around for it.
