Default Moates Burn1

I bought a Burn1 and an adapter to burn a 93 Vette chip. I want to get my stock 93's program and burn it into a chip that I got from E-Bay in a used ECM. Any hints? I have never done anything like this before.

I was able to read the chip I got from E-Bay. It is the old style with the window, I thought we had a light box at work but it seems we are too high tech for that old school stuff? Some of the EE's think it can be erased with sunlight? Anybody have any idea how long that might take?
Can anybody point me to software that will let me read the program, IE: I see where people talk about fan temps and whatnot. The burner came with a utility to let me read the .BIN file, but how do i turn that into usable information?

IIRC, I tried sunlight many years ago and it didn't work. The erasers I've seen will only take a chip, you can't fit the whole carrier in. Most people use a carrier board with a socket that fits between the MEMCAL and the ECM socket. Then they just burn/erase the socketed chip.

I use a modified MEMCAL on my 92. I used a hot air station to remove the original EPROM, and replaced it with an Atmel EEPROM. The Atmel chip is an electrically eraseable substitute for the UV eraseable original part. Then I use a Moates read out header to directly erase and program the MEMCAL.

Thanks!
That is the same setup I have. When you burn the 29C256 do you start at 00000 or do you have to set the start value to something else?
What software do you use to interpret the .BIN file?
We have the hot air stations at work, PACE BGA rework machines. SO I can use the 29c256 just like you did. Thanks again!

For the 92/93 Y-Body, CATS Tuner with a $DA2 mask is the only option I know of. Our ECM's were red-headed step children it seems, they are not very well supported. All the constants that you need to tune the basics are in CATS, but the more obscure things, like the injector display rate used for an accurate MPG calculation with non stock injectors- remain a mystery as far as I can tell.

As for the offset, there is none, just load from 0x0000

if my memory doesn't fail me I believe you use HEX data to program the chips, I used to have a eprom burner & software that ran around $100. Would program all makes of eproms and eeproms. Just do a search on the internet for eprom burners and you will find it and it is easy to use. To erase eproms with the
window, you have to use an ultra violet light source. A lot of barbers used to use them to kill any germs on sissors and combs, etc.
Hope this is of some help to you.
