Has anyone used the Vortex rammer system . Zip products has it for $280 Ecklers for $295. is it worth putting on? they claim 22 hp. & 3.5 tenths Quicker in the1/4 mi. my 95 is mostly stock. Just L.T. headers no cats , & Borla S.S. cat back exhaust. Also 125 hp. wet nitrous.

You will not get anything near the numbers you mention above, and the quality of the Rammer is suspect based on other posts here, and based on my observations (I returned mine). You'd do really well with a K&N/Open Lid type setup.

The Vortex Air Rammer is a good idea but it's made from crappy materials. A lot of guy's on here complain that the plastic air box warps badly from the underhood heat. Pipe

I was almost set to buy one-thanks for the information. I just got burned on a throttle body, don't need to get burned on something else!

Even with a good cold air intake kit, you will be lucky to gain 5-10 HP. You might want to think about saving your money for a better upgrade.

I threw one away if that tells ya anything. Didn't have the ***** or the conscience to pass that piece of crap on to anyone else.

Posted this numerous times and swore I wouldn’t do it again, but…….. I’ve found that if you do the cut lid mod and take TWO air cleaners (One K+N and any ol piece of whatever) removing the guts of the bottom and just keeping the frame…..it works as good as anything you can buy.

My car makes a little more than most with the best run well over 480rwhp N/A so it probably is a bit more sensitive to air needs. Doing the cut lid with just a single K+N cost me about 20 hp on the top where it needs the most air as a single filter is too close to the base of the intake cutting off air. By adding the second filter frame below the K+N as a spacer, brought the car back up into the 480 range again. Dynoed with the POS Vortex, no filter intake at all with air going directly into the MAF and my double filter trick, all came out exactly the same on the dyno.

So there ya go…….save your money for something like sex n drugs and don’t waste it on the Vortex. I mean it works, it will just fall apart on ya and I also found the car to run a little cooler when it was removed.

Two filters make more power? The design of the filter area must be different with your car then my L98. I haven't looked at a '96 filter. I don't see how it would help with my '88 or even fit under the hood. Do you have a picture of this mod?

You're not reading it correctly. I haven't tried it (yet), but what he's saying is (inside one cut lid box) used one regular K&N on top, then under it (on the bottom) use only the frame of another cheap filter as a spacer.
